Chelsea are still looking to press ahead with their move for France and Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde after they land Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, according to reports. The Blues have agreed a £97.5 million deal with the Nerazzurri for the Belgium international and are now on the brink of finalising a move. He completed the first stage of his medical in Italy on Monday afternoon and was seen holding a Chelsea shirt.

The Blues have made the signing of a new number nine their top priority for the summer but Thomas Tuchel is also interested in recruiting a new defender before the end of the window.

Jules is Chelsea’s priority target and according to a report from Goal, the west London giants will continue their push to sign the player once Lukaku arrives at Stamford Bridge. The club are looking to make room in Tuchel’s roster by selling Kurt Zouma and have offered the ace to Sevilla as part of their offer for the Frenchman.

But the Spanish outfit rejected Chelsea’s offer and are holding out for a sum closer to Kounde’s £68 million exit clause. Chelsea’s hopes of signing Kounde before the end of the market were also dealt a blow last week after Kurt turned down a move to West Ham.
