Juventus are “evaluating” Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as a potential signing before the transfer window closes, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The reliable journalist says that the Frenchman is being looked at by the Serie A club as a potential alternative if their move for Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli does not work out.

Tchouameni is a long-term target for Chelsea and he has been touted as someone who could be a cheaper option than West Ham’s Declan Rice.

While the England international could cost between £80m to £100m, Tchouameni is said to be available for half the price, with multiple reports claiming that Monaco may only hold out for around €40m (£34m).

Di Marzio does not say whether Juve are close to making a move for the 21-year-old, but it seems Locatelli and even Barcelona’s Miralem Pjanic could be higher up on their list of priorities. Even so, Chelsea may be forced into speeding up their plans to sign Tchouameni if rivals do make their move for the France Under 21 international.
