Chelsea will begin their hunt for the Premier League trophy by facing off against London rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Blues will be confident of extending their impressive record against the Eagles – having beat them in each of their last seven meetings

Palace, who have also ominously lost their last four visits to Stamford Bridge by an aggregate score of 11-2, face the unenviable task of souring Romelu Lukaku’s expected return to the Prem.

Yet, the Selhurst Park outfit can take some comfort from the fact that new manager Patrick Viera never lost to Chelsea as a player.

The fixture should be an intriguing one with the Blues fully aware of slipping up on their potential banana skin opening day clash.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace: Date and kick-off time

This match will be held on Saturday, August 14 and will kick off at 3pm.

Palace boasted a formidable opening day record under former boss Roy Hodgson as they kept a clean sheet in each of the last three seasons.

But they were battered 4-0 by Chelsea in the same fixture last October and also conceded the same amount when they faced again in April.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace: How to watch

Unfortunately, this game is not being broadcast on TV in the UK.

How ever, talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham will be at Stamford Bridge for GameDay Live and will bring you regular updates from the match.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace: Team News

Chelsea have concerns over Hakim Ziyech’s fitness following his injury blow in Wednesday’s Super Cup win over Villarreal.

Ziyech scored but then had to go off in the first half clutching his arm with boss Thomas Tuchel saying: “If you take a player out during the first half, it is serious. It was unfortunate because he has been a very decisive player in the last games.”

A number of stars from Mason Mount to Jorginho have only recently returned to training following international tournaments this summer.

Lukaku however could be in line to make his first appearance for the club eight years since his last if his £97.5million transfer is confirmed in time.

As for Palace, Eberechi Eze remains a long-term injury issue after he ruptured his achilles tendon during training in May this year.

It is still unknown when he is expected to be back playing but he remains out of their squad for the Premier League opener at Chelsea.

But there may be a chance for a number of debuts for Palace including Marc Guehi who signed for the club this summer from Chelsea.
