Chelsea have allegedly joined the race for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen. The former Lille star has found his feet in Naples and has enjoyed a sensational start to the 2021-22 term, bagging six goals and one assist from six matches in all competitions.

He only arrived at Partenopei last summer and is contracted to the Serie A side until the summer of 2025, but his showings haven’t gone unnoticed from other elite European clubs.

Manchester City have been tipped to swoop for the 22-year-old, and journalist Ciro Venerato states that Chelsea are also in the hunt,

“Osimhen is already worth triple, the Nigerian is liked by Chelsea, Real Madrid, [Paris Saint-Germain] and Manchester City.” Victor endured a stop-start 2020-21 season at Napoli due to injuries and COVID-19 but still managed to register 10 goals and three assists from 24 games in his debut Serie A season.

The 10-time Nigeria international has recent experience in scoring against Premier League sides, netting both of Napoli’s goals in their 2-2 UEFA Europa League draw with Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are in danger of missing out on Matthijs de Ligt as Tottenham are planning a January move for Juventus defender and have identified the Dutchman as one of their primary defensive targets.
