Chelsea will be looking to book their place in the Carabao Cup final on Wednesday night by protecting their 2-0 first leg advantage over Tottenham Hotspur. The Blues gained a two-goal advantage last week thanks to an early goal from Kai Havertz and an own goal from Spurs defender Ben Davies.

Thomas Tuchel has had a number of challenges to contend with in the last month. A Covid outbreak mixed in with injury troubles has created a number of problems for the German but he's navigated his way through January's games undefeated so far. A cup final is on the horizon, but first he'll need to defend a two-goal advantage over Antonio Conte and Tottenham, and do so with a squad that isn't at its usual strength. With all that said, football.london takes a look at the latest injury news heading into the clash.

N'Golo Kante and Thiago Silva

Silva and Kante were both absent from the win over Chesterfield because they were self-isolating after returning positive Covid-19 tests. Silva's wife took to social media to share a negative lateral flow test on the weekend, but Tuchel has confirmed that the club are waiting to make last minute decisions on the pair's fitness going into the game.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference , Tuchel said: "We have the same guys as we have in the cup game. No new injuries which is good for us, then we have to wait on the last minute decisions for Thiago Silva and N'Golo Kante." Expected return date: January 12 - Tottenham (A)

Ben Chilwell

The England international is set to miss the remainder of the season with an ACL knee injury that recently required surgery. While the 25-year-old has posted positive news regarding the surgery going well, the Blues will be without the left wing-back until the summer. Expected return date: Summer 2022

Trevoh Chalobah

The breakthrough academy product has suffered a number of injuries since making the first-team, with Chalobah believed to be a doubt when the side faced Liverpool last week. football.london understands that the talented centre-half was a major doubt for the 2-2 draw against Liverpool earlier this month, but they decided to risk his involvement before he was substituted after 70 minutes. Expected return date: N/A

Reece James

The 22-year-old is set to miss an extended period of football. football.london understands that the full-back has torn his hamstring. Reports suggest that he will not require surgery, but it will sideline him for a number of weeks while he looks to recover in time for the latter stages of the season. Expected return date: Six-eight weeks
