Chelsea could be forced to end their ongoing conversations with the Ricketts family as Chelsea fans, through the supporter’s trust and key social media accounts, put out statements organising protests to prevent Chelsea’s ownership falling into what they perceive as the wrong hands.

The Chelsea Supporters Trust have been one of the cornerstones of conversations between fans and those involved in the Blues hierarchy. Additionally, the cohesion and unity in the Chelsea Supporters Trust has played a major role in enacting change at the club and within fan groups.

A string of offensive and unsavoury comments and opinions from various members of the Ricketts family have surfaced on social media over the last week, leading to a mass social media movement against the Ricketts family’s potential Chelsea ownership gaining significant momentum.

Off the back of this, the Chelsea Supporter’s Trust conducted a poll to best understand how their members feel about the Ricketts family taking over the club. Taking to Twitter to announce the results, the Chelsea Supporter’s Trust stated:

72% currently do not have confidence that the Ricketts family would run an inclusive and successful club. 77% do not support the Ricketts family’s bid. The CST does not currently believe it is in the best interests of our members for the Ricketts bid to succeed.

Post European Super League, Chelsea fans have understood their strength in numbers, with changes to the club structure allowing for greater fan-based opinion to dictate potential change. If the club wishes to keep an already polarised fanbase on side, then the outrage generated from the Ricketts family's involvement in the ownership process should play a major role in deciding the future of Chelsea Football Club.

As protests are planned outside Stamford Bridge prior to the Brentford fixture, the Ricketts family bid face a tricky path to Chelsea ownership with such disdain amongst the loyal fan-base.
