Chelsea and Arsenal have been handed a major boost in the race to sign Lautaro Martinez in the summer transfer window. The London rivals have been heavily linked with the Inter Milan striker this season amid either of their misfortune in front of goal.

The 24-year-old has featured 45 times for the Italian giants this season, directly contributing to 26 goals. Martinez's impressive displays have proved pivotal in Inter's effort to retain the Serie A title, though Simone Inzaghi's side currently are two points behind league leaders AC Milan with two games to spare.

He has been subject to interest from several Premier League sides lately, though the Argentina international has no intention of leaving the San Siro, according to Gazzetta dello Sport . As cited by Goal , the striker's agent, Alejandro Camano confirmed that his client is happy in Italy . Martinez's agent said:

"We are not depending on a transfer, he is at Inter, he is happy, the city is wonderful. Sometimes the press publishes things about a transfer, but Lautaro is thinking about Inter, giving the people of Inter joy, becoming champions and working for the World Cup."

However, Gazzetta dello Sport outline that the Argentine's future at Inter is not certain, despite being publicly opposed to a departure. The Italian outlet reports that Inter are currently nursing financial troubles and would therefore consider offers of around £51.4 million, which 'they may be forced to accept'.

Chelsea were keen on signing Martinez in December ahead of the winter transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes . The Blues were previously linked also in the summer prior, though Thomas Tuchel got his hands on Romelu Lukaku instead.

If Todd Boehly could beat Arsenal to the Argentine's signature, Tuchel could reunite the duo and recreate the heights that they enjoyed at Inter last season. Lukaku and Martinez scored a combined 41 league goals, with the latter often finding space in behind while the former dropped slightly deeper.
