Tony Cascarino has urged Chelsea to sign Robert Lewandowski amid a development regarding Romelu Lukaku's future at Stamford Bridge.

According to reports in Italian outlet Corriere.it , as cited by SempreInter , Inter are set to meet with Sebastien Ledure, a lawyer representing Lukaku, regarding a possible move this week. The report adds that the Nerazzurri will discuss possible wage terms for a loan move from the Blues.

That information has since been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who said on Twitter:

"Inter board will meet Romelu Lukaku's lawyer in the coming hours. Belgian striker dreams of returning to Inter, but nothing has been discussed yet with Chelsea on formula, salary and more.

"It's [a] really complicated deal as Chelsea paid €115million (£97.5million) for Rom one year ago."

Now, speaking on talkSPORT, former Chelsea star Cascarino has told the Blues to sign Bayern Munich star Lewandowski:

"Mason Mount was the club's top scorer in the Premier League this season – Lukaku hasn't scored enough goals.

"It's a tough one, what do you do with him? How many clubs in Europe can afford to pay his wages and pay a fee that would get him out the door? "It's going to come down to Tuchel. Sometimes managers just don't fancy you, you're not their cup of tea, and it looks that way. It doesn't look like a good fit with Lukaku and Tuchel at Chelsea.

"If he's given the option of getting Lewandowski, you're going to go for it. OK, he's 33, but Chelsea signed Thiago Silva, and he's been a brilliant signing for the club.

If they could get that one over the line, Chelsea missed goals in the centre- forward position all season, and it's cost them so dearly. They've come third, and they are FIFA Club World Cup champions, but they could have done with an ultimate goalscorer, and he's one of them.

"You'd take Lewandowski every day of the week. He's guaranteed goals, and his wages would be small change for Chelsea ."

The Poland international is set to leave the Bundesliga giants when his contract expires at the end of next month. There aren't many better forwards than him around - if any at all - perhaps it would be wise for the Blues to make him a formal offer.
