Todd Boehly has been handed a major blow ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with the new Chelsea owner keen to bolster Thomas Tuchel's armoury this summer.

The LA Dodgers owner, who has agreed a £4.25billion deal to buy the west London club, is expected to 'push for A-list signings' to mark a new era at Stamford Bridge, according to the MailOnline.

However, the uncertainty that looms over Romelu Lukaku's future has reportedly stalled the Blues' efforts. The 28-year-old has struggled to acclimatise to the Premier League upon his return to Stamford Bridge in the summer from Inter Milan.

He has found the net just 15 times in 43 appearances this season and his overriding misfortune in front of goal has seen him relegated to the bench. Though, despite his trials and tribulations, Lukaku has recently worked his way back into Tuchel's plans which has thrown created a dilemma for Chelsea .

The Belgium international has impressed lately for the Blues. And, according to the Guardian, Chelsea seem hesitant about replacing Lukaku.

The report claims that the Blues 'could join the race' to sign Robert Lewandowski despite the Bayern Munich striker favouring a summer move to Barcelona. The 33-year-old has lifted the lid on his future ahead of the summer following Bayern Munich's 2-2 draw with VfL Wolfsburg.

The Poland international has featured 46 times for the German giants this season, directly contributing towards 57 goals across all competitions. Despite his age, Lewandowski has continued to showcase his evergreen goal-scoring ability, attracting attention from a host of leading European sides.

He sees his contract with Bayern expire at the end of next season, casting an element of doubt over his future in Germany. So, speaking on his future, after Bayern's draw Lewandowski addressed the rumours linking him with an exit. As per Gianluigi Longari , he said:

"It is very likely that this is my last match with Bayern. I can't say one-hundred per cent, but maybe it was. We want to find the best solution for me and the club."

Ahead of the January transfer window and prior to the sanctioning of Roman Abramovich, Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia was offered the chance to sign the £26 million-rated striker from Bayern in a deal that would see Timo Werner potentially head the other way, according to football consultant Ian McGarry .

Pini Zahavi, Lewandowski's agent, was reportedly keen to see if a deal with the west Londoners would be viable. McGarry told the Transfer Window Podcast:

"Pini Zahavi, often described as the original super-agent, represents Lewandowski and has done for more than two years.

"Zahavi is talso a close-confidant of Marina Granovskaia and it is certainly the case that he has offered Lewandowski to Chelsea and Granovskaia. It's a move which could include Werner going to Bayern."
