Kalidou Koulibaly has admitted that he doesn’t know what the future holds for him, amid links with a move away from Napoli. The 30-year-old has been connected with a move to Chelsea this summer as part of a huge transfer window at the club.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is believed to have £200million at his disposal to invest in the squad following Todd Boehly ’s completed takeover. The German coach is now tasked with revamping his options at the club to keep them competitive going into the next campaign. On the plans for the summer, Tuchel said:

“I don’t know where we are from day one. What I can promise is that I will be here if I can promise that! I will be here with full energy and positive energy no matter what. We will still work for Chelsea and I refuse to think of negative scenarios. We will be competitive, on which level we will see.”

One particular area for redevelopment is the defensive department. Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are both set to leave the club, following the end of their contracts, leaving a lack of depth at centre-back.

A number of options have been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge this summer, including Napoli defender Koulibaly. The Senegal international has only one-year remaining on his contract with the Azzurri, opening up the potential for a move. He has since discussed his future, saying via Fabrizio Romano :

“I won’t lie to you, I don’t know what’s gonna happen with my future. I was focused on Senegal then now we’ll see what happens.”

It remains to be seen where his future may lie, however it doesn’t close the door on a transfer, something that will keep the Blues hopeful in any pursuit.
