OFFICIAL Chelsea announcement made – boss delight 6ft 7 giant has completed move

Chelsea goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom has joined League One side Peterborough United on loan. Standing at 6ft 7, the 19-year-old signed for Chelsea from Turun Palloseura in his native Finland during the 2018/19 season and has been a regular within the Academy squads at Stamford Bridge.

The Finnish goalkeeper was part of Chelsea’s Premier League 25-man squad last season as the fourth choice shot-stopper at Stamford Bridge as the coaches were impressed with his performances.

He is a man that Chelsea have big hope that he will eventually develop enough to challenge for the number one spot in the coming seasons – but they know sitting on the bench will not allow him to do that.

And they made the very smart decision to let the big unit leave the club for the next 12 months in order to get some game time play some minutes at a very good lower league side

✍️ Posh Secure Bergström Signing! We are pleased to announce the signing of young Chelsea goalkeeper Lucas Bergström on a season-long loan deal. Transfer news brought to you by @da_recruitment #pufc | #AD — Peterborough United (@theposh) June 18, 2022

And after seeing the deal get announced – Posh boss Grant McCann was pleased to secure his services and was thankful to the Premier League side for allowing the move to happen.

“Lucas is very highly-rated at Chelsea. He is commanding, a very good shot-stopper and extremely aggressive from crosses and good with his feet. I must give huge thanks to Carlo Cudicini and Chelsea for trusting us in developing Lucas further and we can’t wait to work with him,” McCann said.

Bergström will link-up with his new team- mates on the 22nd June when the Posh squad return for pre-season testing. There will be an interview with Bergström on his arrival at the idverde Training Ground.

The lad is massive and definitely has the potential to become a top-class stopper if he makes the right career choices He may want to be at Chelsea right now.

but this is a very smart move to make as he will get some much needed first-team minutes Chelsea will be keeping a very close eye on his performances
